Caption: (b) Sand and water discharge from the pipe on the beach, and the sand is moved in position by the bulldozer shown in (a). The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers spent over $12 million to add approximately 1.7 million m3 (2.3 million yd.3) of sand to the beach in 2005. An estimated 1.9 million m3 (2.5 million yd.3) was added to the beach at a cost of $12.5 million in 1993. (Robert H. Blodgett)
