Title: POLAR AND SUBTROPICAL JET STREAMS
Caption: Strong winds near the boundary between the troposphere and stratosphere are concentrated in jet streams. The strongest winds are in the polar jet stream at around 10 km (33,000 ft.) and generally less intense winds form the subtropical jet stream at about 13 km (43,000 ft.). (After Lutgens F.
